Terms of Service

Last updated September 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of the hosted Illumina service at app.illumina.sh and api.illumina.sh, including the MCP server and the SDKs. By creating a workspace or calling the API you agree to them. If you use Illumina on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company, and "you" means the company.

Your account

You need a working email address to sign in. Keep the API keys minted in your workspace secret. Anything done with a key counts as done by you, so scope keys to the namespaces they need and revoke any key you no longer trust. Tell us right away if you believe a key or account has been compromised.

Plans and billing

Free. The Free plan carries monthly caps on commit, search, and illuminate operations, plus limits on namespaces, members, keys, file storage, request rate, and concurrent heavy operations. A request past a cap answers 402 and nothing already saved is affected.

Pro. Pro is billed monthly in arrears through Stripe on the operations you run, at the rates shown on the pricing page at the time of use. Each meter carries a runaway-protection ceiling of 1,000,000 operations a month. File uploads and document reprocessing bill as commit. Manual consolidation and automation refreshes bill as illuminate. Stripe charges the card on file; if a charge fails, the workspace drops to Free limits until payment succeeds.

Enterprise. Enterprise plans are governed by a signed order form, which takes precedence over these terms where the two conflict.

We may change prices with at least 30 days notice by email to workspace owners. Prices exclude taxes, which you are responsible for where they apply.

Your content

You own everything you commit into Illumina and everything the service derives from it. You grant us the limited right to store, process, and transmit that content, including to the providers named in our Privacy Policy, solely to provide the service to you. You are responsible for having the rights to upload the content you save and for how your agents use the answers they get back.

Acceptable use

Do not use Illumina to store or process content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, or that you do not have permission to hold. Do not attempt to access another workspace, probe or overload the service, circumvent plan limits or rate limits, or resell the service without an agreement with us. Do not use the service to build a competing memory product by systematically extracting its behavior.

The service

We work to keep Illumina available and improve it continuously. Features can change, and we announce breaking API changes in the documentation ahead of time where we can. Uptime commitments and support response targets apply only under an Enterprise agreement. Features labeled beta or preview may change or be withdrawn without notice.

Suspension and termination

You can delete namespaces or erase your workspace at any time from the dashboard or the API. We may suspend or terminate a workspace for nonpayment, for a breach of these terms, or where the law requires it, and we will give notice where doing so is practical. On termination we erase the workspace and its content, subject to the retention practices in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

Illumina is provided as is. Answers produced by the service come from a language model reading your content and can be incomplete or wrong. Check them before acting on them. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability arising out of these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars if you paid nothing.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from content you save, from your agents' use of the service, or from your breach of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Illumina is organized, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes are resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless an Enterprise agreement says otherwise.

Changes

When these terms change we update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, email workspace owners at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the new terms.
